Peyton Moore
Age: 23 | State: Tennessee | County: Shelby | Case Status: Pending
At age 16, Peyton was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was an honors student and on the football team when he was diagnosed. A very kind and generous guy and was very well liked among his peers. He started treatment immediately at St Jude and had to quit football and going to school and that was truly difficult mentally, physically and emotionally for him. Did you know that children with childhood cancer are 2.5 to 5 times likely to be addicted to opioids and 10-13% to be on antidepressants? The treatment that he was given for his cancer deteriorated his hip joints. He developed AVN and we were in and out of St Jude Hospital with surgeries most of his teenage years. He had a full hip replacement at age 19. And guess what, he was given a lot of opioids. If only I did my research on the treatment when we were given the news “Your son has cancer”. I just wanted it cured and to go away… little did I know, he would beat cancer and become addicted to opioids and later be given a synthetic pill to kill him. He was 7 years cancer free on February 15th, 2021 and was 4 months into his recovery and exactly two weeks later he was poisoned from Fentanyl and died on February 27th, 2021. I will never be ok with that. He was a fighter and loved life. He didn’t deserve to die. I miss him so much and we have to keep fighting and telling our stories for change to save a generation. The dealer to this poison is currently in jail without bond and awaiting a trial. Praying justice will be served.🙏🏻
