Garrett Johnson
Age: 23 | State: | County: Franklin | Case Status: Conviction
On August 4, 2020 my son Garrett reached out to a friend for an Ambien to help him sleep. Garrett worked third shift and struggled with sleeping. Garrett did not know that the pill he was given was not Ambien but rather straight Fentanyl which killed him instantly. Finding him in his room that evening will haunt me for the rest of my life. It took us two months before we had an answer to what took our sweet boy. Once we found out we made it our mission to get justice for our boy as well as prevent another family from feeling this pain. Our local police department did not push to get us justice and unfortunately a month later another young man passed away at the hand of this drug dealer. We pushed for the neighboring police department to investigate our case to see if it was connected with their case. Once we released Garrett’s phone to them and they gained access into it the text messages were all there. The last message was from Seth- the drug dealer – stating that Garrett “would love what he gave him it was the best around”. It took us two years of pushing for justice and lots of phone calls to stay on top of the investigation before we finally got a guilty plea. On August 10,2022 we were finally able to tell Seth Donohue how his actions changed the course of our lives forever. He took a plea agreement for both deaths and was sentenced to 40 years. He will serve 25 years and then released on strict probation for the remainder 15 years. No amount of time will ever repair our broken hearts and we pray that he takes the time in prison to reflect on the choices he made and works towards doing better not just for himself but for the 2 lives that were taken by his actions.
