On 10/8/2021 our granddaughter was found deceased in an apartment from Fentanyl/cocaine toxicity. There was not enough cocaine to have caused an overdose it was Fentanyl that took her life. EMS report states she had been dead 12 hour. Ashley had struggled with mental illness and recently SUD. The case was listed as inactive after only 4 days and closed 3 months later. Ashley had a beautiful heart and soul. She loved her family and friends. She loved animals but most important she loved Jesus. She was loyal and trusting. In the end she trusted a wolf in sheeps clothing. Her life MATTERS and she will forever be 23. She is missed and loved beyond measure. To law enforcement she was just another dead addict and the way her case was handled reflects that. NC has a death by distribution but is not being enforced at all. I was told by Greensboro Criminal Investigation unit “ it depends on the county. “!How is there no accountability to have a proper investigation and a DA refuses to prosecute.
