Alexandra Carol Capelouto was born on February 24, 1999 in Mission Viejo, California. She was an extremely intelligent, artistic, beautiful young woman attending Arizona State University on an a full academic scholarship. Alex had a loving heart that felt everything deeply. She had her entire life ahead of her. Alex also suffered from depression which led her to seek the prescription pain killer Percocet. She connected with a drug dealer on the social media platform Snapchat. The drug dealer said he didn’t have Percocet but had Oxycodone. Alex purchased what was represented to her as Oxycodone. Before going to bed on the evening of December 22, 2019 Alex took half a pill and died instantly. She was sold a counterfeit oxycodone pill made with a lethal dose of fentanyl. Two years to the week after Alex’s death Brandon Michael McDowell was arrested on the federal charge of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death. Alex’s case is the first federal case of its kind in Riverside County California. The drug/death dealer is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on February 27, 2023.
